Grading now earns XP and levels
We've added XP, levels and titles to the screen you see after grading a printed worksheet with the camera. The screen used to end with the score. Now there's something after it.
In the last update I wrote that we'd keep changing how results are shown. This is the first step.
Grading now earns XP
Take a photo of the worksheet, and once grading finishes, the score is followed by a screen showing the XP earned. XP builds up into levels, and reaching a level earns a title. Have a look at the screen to see which titles there are.
XP and levels are kept separately for each player. If you've registered more than one child, each of them builds their own. They never get mixed together.
When you correct a misread answer, the XP is recounted. If a box was marked wrong and you fix it yourself, it counts too.
None of this is settled yet
I'll be honest with you. How XP is counted, how quickly levels go up, which titles exist — none of it is decided. This part is still being built.
I don't yet know how fast levels should rise for this to be worth continuing. Too fast and it gets dull straight away; too slow and you're looking at a screen where nothing happens, every time you grade. I wanted to decide that by watching how it actually gets used, so I've released it without fixing the current shape.
The same goes for titles. The ones there now may not stay. Names can change, and so can what you have to do to earn them.
What comes next
XP and titles are here to make it a little more fun to keep going. Something small and good, waiting at the end of grading. I'm still looking for the right way to place it.
If anything about it bothers you, please tell me through the contact form. It helps me decide what to change.
