What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- 2-Step Word Problems
One calculation will not reach the answer. Four patterns of word problem, differing in how they combine, are gathered: Adding or Subtracting after Multiplying or Adding, Two Steps Using Multiplication, Adding or Subtracting after Dividing, and Total Cost.
What the four patterns share is that every figure appearing in the question enters an expression at least once. Look across the expressions written and check that no figure has been left unused. One left over means the work stopped there or the wrong partner was combined with it.
All four are alike on a single point, that two calculations are needed. In Finding from the Sum and Difference, what the first of those two should be becomes hard to see from the scene.
