What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Subtraction
A scene such as passengers leaving a bus in two goes is followed through with three numbers and a minus sign. Calculation gives the bare equation while Word Problems supply the setting, yet taking two numbers away from the first one after the other is the procedure everywhere, and Fill in the Blank walks the same order.

Not getting through both of the numbers to be taken away, and writing an answer after a single subtraction, happens often. Checking with a finger that the equation holds two of them prevents it. At the second step some children go back to the starting number rather than the figure reached halfway, and the answer swells.
In Mixed Addition and Subtraction the signs, which have pointed the same way up to now, change places inside a single equation. Working through from the front is the one thing that stays as it is.
