- Applications of Area
Two shapes make up the lesson, one read by eye and one read from writing. The first has six triangles labeled A to F and asks for every one equal in area to A by symbol, with their heights matched between two guide lines above and below. The word problems trace backward from an area and one length to the other length, and the rectangles bring calculation between decimals.

All six triangles lie between the same two lines, so the height is shared. Whether the areas are equal is decided by the base length alone. An answer chosen on the look of a point or a slant is plainly off once the base lengths on the drawing are read and compared.
Both the forward direction of the formulas and the backward direction are handled here. Percentage, which follows, begins the study of expressing the relation between two quantities as a number based on 1. The footing is the way of rebuilding a drawing's figures into an expression, stacked up as far as Area of Rhombuses and Kites.
