Set against a drawing of the box, an opened-out shape is judged on whether it would make one. Identifying Nets picks the correct net out of A and B, Opposite Faces names which of the faces A to F ends up facing the one specified, and How to Fold chooses from A and B the box that the net would build.

In Opposite Faces, taking faces that lie next to each other on the flat net for faces that end up across from each other is the mix-up that stands out. Raising the faces one at a time in the head, as though assembling the box, shows which face really comes to rest against the one named.
Shapes of Boxes holds a single lesson, and grade two ends with it. The eye that has been following figures inside sentences as far as Decreasing Situations is turned here on the shape of a drawing itself. This way of looking leads into the grade four study of the edges and faces of solids.
