- Multiplication and Division
The rounding place settles at one significant digit. Multiplication (1 Significant Digit) and Division (1 Significant Digit) turn both numbers into single significant digits before the product or quotient is found. Multiplication (Word Problems) and Division (Word Problems) read scenes of sales and output, and on the multiplication side the answer is written with about in front of it.

The two figures left after rounding in Division (1 Significant Digit) are built to divide evenly. An answer left carrying a remainder was divided using the figures before rounding. The same holds in Division (Word Problems): where the answer refuses to come out whole and the hand stops, whether the rounding and the dividing changed places is worth looking at.
In the next unit, Rules of Calculation, expressions return to being worked out exactly rather than estimated, and where to start becomes the question. In Addition and Subtraction the rounding place moved from item to item, whereas here it has settled into one and the hand is fixed.
