- Area of Rhombuses and Kites
Multiplying one diagonal by the other and dividing by 2 is used across three kinds of drawing, as Calculation. There is a drawing with the full lengths of the two diagonals written in, a drawing with the four halves split at the center written separately, and a kite drawing that is not symmetric left to right, and in the latter two the halves are added first to give the full lengths before the formula is used.

In a drawing with four half lengths written, the figures before adding get put into the formula and the answer comes out far below what it should be. The two figures to be multiplied are the left and right labels added together, and the top and bottom labels added together. A kite drawing works the same way, and a drawing with only two full lengths written needs no such check.
Rebuilding the figures on a drawing before they go into a formula enters here for the first time. In Applications of Area the formula is traced backward, and a side length is found from an area.
