The same circle drawings and scenes come up in three directions: finding the circumference from a given diameter, finding it from a given radius, and tracing a diameter back from a circumference. Each is built with a calculation carrying a drawing and word problems set in scenes such as a tire, a pond or a tree trunk.

In the question tracing a diameter back from a circumference, the usual hand comes out and 3.14 gets multiplied in. The product is larger than the circumference given, so a figure larger than the circumference standing in the diameter box gives it away. Multiply the diameter found back by 3.14 and the circumference in the question returns just as it was.
Handling one whole circle by itself runs only to this lesson. In The Circumference of Various Circles the partner becomes a circle cut in half or in quarters, and the straight parts get added alongside the arc.
