- Multiplication of Decimals (Word Problems)
From scenes such as the yield per 1 m², the weight per 1 cm³, and the height and width of a rectangle, these Word Problems have the child set up a multiplication containing decimals. Multiplying a base quantity by a decimal number of times, to reach the quantity wanted, belongs here too.

Once a number expressing a multiple appears, papers come in where a division was set up although a multiplication was called for. Divide the answer found by that multiple, and if it returns cleanly to the base quantity the expression is right. Where it does not, the choice of operation is what needs another look.
The arithmetic keeps its shape and the labor of raising the expression out of a scene is laid on top. The next unit, Division of Decimals, deals with dividing by a decimal, on the footing of the decimal point handling made firm in Multiplication of Decimals (Calculations).
