Work opens by looking at five solids drawn in a row and answering by symbol which are the triangular prism, the quadrangular prism, the cylinder and the triangular pyramid. The other shape fills in a table, writing the counts of vertices, edges and faces for each kind from a triangular prism up to a hexagonal prism.

One of the five is slipped in as a solid that answers none of the questions. A shape gathering to a point at the top and a shape with matching faces facing each other top and bottom carry similar names, so a cylinder gets asked for and the pointed one gets chosen. Whether the top face of the solid chosen as a cylinder is flat and the same shape as the bottom is what separates them.
In Expressions Using a Box the work leaves drawings for word problems that write an unseen figure in a scene as a box. This unit is built entirely from telling solids apart and counting them.
