The partner in a division becomes a fraction. Expressions dividing a fraction by a whole number, dividing a whole number by a fraction, and dividing a mixed number by a whole number stand together as Calculation, and every one runs as far as simplifying. In Fill in the Blank the whole-number divisor becomes a gap, and it is found from the visible fraction and quotient.

In an expression divided by a whole number, arithmetic happens that multiplies both denominator and numerator by that whole number, so simplifying returns the original fraction. Dividing by a whole number must leave an answer smaller than the original, so an answer left in the same shape as the original fraction is this slip.

Dividing starts here, and whole numbers and mixed numbers still stand on both the divided side and the dividing side. Expressions with fractions on both sides become the center, spreading to expressions with decimals in them and to three divisions in a row, from Fraction ÷ Fraction.
