Division of Fractions Word Problems
B-3Word Problems (Integer ÷ Fraction, etc.)
What this worksheet covers
Grade 6 (Elementary School) / Division of Fractions / Division of Fractions Word Problems
The lesson begins from scenes rather than expressions. Questions sharing a fractional amount among a number of people, questions counting how many pieces a whole number of units yields when cut into fractional lengths, questions tracing back to The Base Amount from a percentage and a part, questions finding the amount for one, and two-stage applications involving comparison and distribution all run as word problems.
In the questions finding The Base Amount, papers set up an expression multiplying the part by the fraction that is the percentage. Once the answer is out, multiply the percentage in the writing back into it. Return to the part written at the start and the direction is right.
The procedure of dividing was settled in Fraction ÷ Fraction, and here it has moved to the work that follows setting up an expression. In Mixed Operations with Fractions that work appears as one part of a long expression.
