Traveler Problems
A-2Word Problems (Meeting)
What this worksheet covers
Grade 6 (Elementary School) / Traveler Problems / Traveler Problems
The movements of two people are followed at once. The time until they meet walking toward each other and the place where they meet, the shape finding one of the speeds backward, the time until one chases another down from behind, departures separated in time, Catching Up around a pond, and scenes split into a walking stretch and a running stretch are all followed as word problems.
Asked for the average speed over a there-and-back trip, papers write the speed out and the speed back added and halved. The average speed is the whole there-and-back distance divided by the total time taken, and it is pulled toward the slower side. An answer sitting exactly between the two speeds is this pattern.
Handling the scenes of speed once through is the business of this single lesson. Following movement gives way, and the talk turns to regularity, where which position in a repetition is named through division and a remainder.
