You can now solve worksheets on screen, without printing

Print a worksheet, solve it, then check the answers with the camera. Until now, that paper-based route was the only way to use diglabo. This time, we've made it possible to solve the questions on screen without printing. You start from the "Practice on screen" button on a worksheet's page. No login is needed.

For now, this button appears only on the Japanese pages.

One question at a time, the same as on paper

Press the button and the worksheet's questions appear one at a time. The questions and diagrams are the same ones you'd get on the printed sheet.

Choose an answer box and fill it in with the number buttons at the bottom of the screen. On a computer, you can also type the numbers on your keyboard. When you press OK on the last box, the answer is checked and a red circle or cross appears.

You can move between questions with the back and next buttons, and it's fine to skip a question. Each question is checked only once.

All 855 worksheets on the Japanese pages can be answered on screen, down to the last question. Fractions, column calculations and questions where you choose an answer work too. In column calculations, addition, subtraction and multiplication fill in from the rightmost place, and the quotient in division fills in from the left.

A wrong answer doesn't show the right one

When a cross appears, the screen doesn't show the correct answer. You can see the answers with "Check answers" on the worksheet's page.

The checking uses the same system as grading with the camera.

Nothing is saved

Results from solving on screen aren't saved anywhere. When you close it, what you solved is gone too. For now, only answers graded with the camera count toward stamps, stars and XP.

Something I found along the way

While making it possible to answer on screen, I checked the questions one by one. That turned up a question where the paper alone didn't tell you how to write the answer.

It was a grade 6 question about days of the week. In English, the question spelled out "Monday", yet the correct answer was the three-letter "Wed". Nothing on the question sheet said whether to write "Wednesday" or "Wed". You couldn't know until you saw the answer sheet.

Now the question lists the days in the form to write, so the answer format is clear from the sheet itself.

What comes next

I started building diglabo because I saw my daughter getting stressed by all sorts of learning materials. With no printing involved, I hope this becomes an easy way in, even for just one question.
