Addition with Carrying worksheets for Grade 1 (Elementary School)

What this unit covers

Sums that pass 10 are worked out by making a group of ten. Along with Calculation come Fill in the Blank items asking for the missing number in a box, and Word Problems that turn a situation into an equation, until answers from 11 to 18 feel familiar.

Writing 3 instead of 13 for 9 + 4 is the telling error: the ten that was carried gets dropped. If the answer is only the ones digit, the ten left over from splitting was never added back. Children who count on their fingers keep producing answers that are off by one, because they start counting from the wrong number.
