The work reaches scenes asking how much cheaper each item becomes when goods are bought together. Large Numbers handles dividing by a round multiple of ten and Even More Digits handles four-digit dividends. Buying in Bulk for Less becomes a word problem in which the gap between the cost at full price and the bulk cost is divided by the number of items.

Buying in Bulk for Less has two tiers, and the hand stops once the gap in the totals is found, with that figure written straight into the answer. Since what is wanted is the gap for a single item, multiplying the written answer by the number of items lands exactly on the gap in the totals. Should it swell instead, a division is still outstanding.
In the next unit, Rounding Numbers, estimating itself becomes the center of the study, and which place to round at is chosen by the child. The way of estimating built up as far as 3-Digit ÷ 2-Digit has been used twice over inside a scene here.
