Two parts make up the lesson: Finding the Same Shape asks for a solid of the same kind as the one in the frame, and Odd One Out asks which single solid has a property the others lack. The items are all about looking, telling a box shape from a tube, a triangular pillar or something that comes to a point.

The right solid has been laid on its side even where it belongs to the same family as the model. Being led by which way an object faces, and picking a different shape that happens to stand the same way, is far and away the commonest error. Setting the toppled object upright in the head clears the hesitation.
How Shapes Look moves the question on to the flat outline a solid presents when viewed from one direction. The eye trained here to read the family of a shape without being caught by how it has been set down goes on working there.
