Three tiers are written one after another: the original expression, the rounded expression, and its answer. From Addition (1 Significant Digit) to Addition (To the Ten Thousands Place) a sum is estimated with the rounding place shifting, and from Subtraction (To the Hundreds Place) onward the same is done with a difference. Besides single-line working, Addition (Word Problems) and Subtraction (Word Problems) read scenes of population and weight.

An estimate rounds before it adds. Work the true answer out first and round afterwards and the result looks close enough to pass unnoticed. The clue is the middle tier, where every figure should carry nothing but zeros below the place named. Original figures left standing there mean the rounding was put off until later.
The hand that rounded a single number in Rounding now turns on each figure inside an expression. In Multiplication and Division the rounding place narrows to one significant digit alone and the signs change to multiplying and dividing.
