What this worksheet covers
Relationships such as 1 L being 10 dL and 1 dL being 100 mL let a quantity in one unit be restated as a decimal in another. Conversions are lined up across capacity and length, from L to dL, cm to mm and km to m, together with moving between compound units and decimals, and word problems that rewrite before adding.
Multiplying where dividing was needed, or the reverse, turns 35 mm into 350 cm rather than 3.5 cm. If the number shrank while converting to a smaller unit, the direction is wrong. Confusing ten times with a hundred times also persists, as when 1 L 2 dL is written 1.02 L instead of 1.2 L.
Following on from Decimals, this unit practices rewriting units of capacity and length using decimals. Moving back and forth between a large unit and a small one, this idea of rewriting stays exactly the same mechanism in the very next unit, Weight (kg, g, t).
