What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Addition and Subtraction (Subtract → Add)
Only one arrangement appears: subtraction first, addition afterwards. Working from the front settles the answer, whereas gathering the last two numbers together first changes it. How much that order matters is confirmed again and again in the calculations, in Fill in the Blank and in Word Problems built from a scene.

Doing the addition at the end first, then taking that sum away in one piece, is what stands out. A result smaller than the true figure marks it. Ringing the first two numbers before starting prevents it, and in Fill in the Blank the sign standing in front of the box goes unseen and an addition is done instead.
Nothing has moved but the arrangement, so the way of checking matches Addition and Subtraction (Add → Subtract). The unit finishes with Order and Strategy, which takes up the cases where the order may legitimately be changed.
