What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Word Problems
Nothing but word problems is set out. After How Much for Each Person (Equal Sharing) and How Many Groups confirm how the expression goes together, the work moves to Adjusting the Answer (Rounding Down) and Adjusting the Answer (Rounding Up), where how the remainder shows in the answer is decided scene by scene.
Rounding down and rounding up part company over the remainder. Where what is left over will not make another whole one, the quotient stands as the answer; where what is left over needs a container or a vehicle of its own, one is added to the quotient. Fall into the habit of adding in both, and the answers to the rounding-down scenes alone come out one too large.
The quotient and remainder written as a pair in Calculation are replaced here by the words of a scene, and they settle the very form of the answer. Division with Remainders is finished with this.
