What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Column Calculation
The multiplier stretches from one digit to two. After the two single-digit stages are traced once more, the work enters 2-Digit×2-Digit and 3-Digit×2-Digit, where the product is written in two rows and then added, repeated in the column layout alone.

The small carried figures left over once the first row is done get mixed into the second row of multiplying. Rebuilding each digit of the second row from the table of the multiplier's tens digit alone shows where the stray figures went. Once there are two rows, the jottings have to be rubbed out before the work moves on.
This column layout is used as a tool, just as it stands, in Word Problems. Two things separate it from Calculation: the digits of the multiplier, and writing the product in two rows and adding them.
