- Finding the Percentage
The percentage itself is found, in word problems set in scenes such as passengers against capacity, this year's amount against last year's, and the discount off a regular price. There are questions writing the answer as a decimal, questions writing it as a percent, and questions answering how many times as large with a unit of multiplication, and the discount rate takes two steps, finding the difference and then turning it into a percentage.

A question whose answer box carries % needs one more step, multiplying the decimal from the division by a hundred. A figure below 1 such as 0.35 standing in the % box means that step is missing. Questions with a unit of multiplication and questions with no unit need no multiplying by a hundred, so checking the shape of the answer box first is the quickest road.
Unlike the previous lesson, which only restated, from here a percentage is made out of the figures in a scene. In Finding the Compared Quantity the percentage is given first and the direction turns to finding the amount it stands for.
