Band Graphs and Pie Charts worksheets for Grade 5 (Elementary School)
What this unit covers
Graphs that take the whole as 100% and show each part's share as a length or an angle are read here. Percentages for the individual categories are read off the scale on band graphs and on pie charts alike, and where the size of the whole is given, shares are converted back into actual quantities.
Reading the number printed at a dividing line instead of counting from the left-hand end is a frequent error. Answering 40% for the band that runs from 25% to 40% is this pattern. On pie charts, mix-ups happen with categories where the visual impression of the slice does not match its actual share.
