- Band Graphs
Within Band Graphs, one and the same figure carries five questions built in three different arrangements, and everything is read by eye. One arrangement leans on answering with numbers of people, one has the answers stay in %, and one leans toward the difference between two categories or how many times as large, and in all of them a band cut into five carries the % of each category printed on it while the introduction gives the whole amount.

Questions answered in % and questions answered in people stand mixed together on one sheet. Asked for a number of people, children write in the % read off the figure just as it is. Unless the whole amount is a hundred, the number of people and the % figure never agree, so where the two match, check the step of multiplying by the whole amount.
In Pie Charts the same five questions are set again on a figure cut into a circle rather than a band. Reading a percentage and turning it into an amount carry over from this lesson unchanged.
