Multiplication of Fractions Word Problems

The lesson is word problems only, setting up expressions from three kinds of scene: the height and width of a rectangle, the weight and length per 1 m, and a base amount with a ratio. Questions with a ratio above 1 and below 1 both appear, and questions whose base amount is shown as an improper fraction are mixed in.

When the amount for one already appears in the writing, that figure belongs on the multiplying side. Misread it as a question asking for the amount for one and a division by the length gets set up. Having the child put a finger on where the weight per 1 m is written keeps the work from drifting into division.

The procedure of simplifying while producing a product was finished by Fraction × Fraction. What is new here is only raising that expression out of the words of a scene. Multiplying three partners instead of two starts after this.
