Inverse Proportion
B-2Word Problems (Application)
What this worksheet covers
Grade 6 (Elementary School) / Proportion and Inverse Proportion / Inverse Proportion
A relation where one grows and the other shrinks by that much is handled. Two word problems make up the lesson: a question filling the fixed number for x and y from a table of six columns and producing a value not in the table, and a two-tier question that finds a fixed whole amount, such as an area or a distance, without using a table at all.
In the two-tier question, an expression gets set up that multiplies where the whole amount found first should be divided. In this kind of scene, the figure wanted grows smaller as the other figure grows larger. Set the given figures and the answer side by side and check that the side that grew and the side that shrank have not been exchanged.
The touch of raising an expression out of a table, used in Proportion, stays exactly as it was, and only the direction of the tie has changed. Into Number of Cases, which counts every possible arrangement or choice, this unit carries the tool of an expression.
