- Worksheet
- Addition (No Carrying)
A one-digit number is added to a two-digit number, and only those items whose ones do not reach ten are collected. The tens place is left alone, the ones digits are added, and the rest of the number is copied straight down. Nothing grows but the size of the numbers, so Fill in the Blank and Word Problems are settled by the same addition used in Calculation.
Writing the one-digit number on the tens side is the place mix-up to watch for, and 36 + 2 turned into 56 identifies it at once. Fill in the Blank also produces items where the visible numbers are added although the box stands on one side or the other, giving a number larger than the answer.
The work moves on from shifting the tens alone to holding tens and ones in view together. Holding it up is the stance of counting one place at a time, taken from Adding and Subtracting Tens. Subtraction (No Borrowing) then crosses to the subtracting side.
