Congruent Figures and Angles worksheets for Grade 5 (Elementary School)
What this unit covers
Work begins with Finding Congruent Figures, figures identical in both shape and size, and then uses the fact that the interior angles of a triangle total 180 degrees to find a missing interior or exterior angle. Quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexagons follow, with the interior angle sum of a polygon derived from how many triangles it splits into.
When finding an exterior angle, many children subtract from the interior angle sum instead of from 180 degrees. With polygons, the number of sides gets counted directly as the number of triangles, and answering 1080 degrees rather than 720 degrees for the interior angle sum of a hexagon is the typical result.
