Word problems gather only relations where the circle grows to twice and three times the box. Price Type lays the price of one item against how many are bought, while Perimeter of Squares and Perimeter of Triangles lay the side of a large figure built from small ones against its perimeter in a table. Questions that work back from the perimeter to a side appear as well.

Double the side and the perimeter doubles, treble it and the perimeter trebles: that is the relation here. Pulling two pairs of values out of the table and comparing them gives an immediate sense of it. Carrying the feel of the previous lesson over, children write an expression that keeps an added figure beside the multiplier, and the expression fails to give zero when the box is zero.
