Scenes such as going out and coming home, or starting a run and stopping the watch, are set as word problems. Finding the stretch between two times is one shape, tracing forward or back from a given time is another, and putting two durations together to give a Total Time (Minutes, Seconds) is a third.

Time Taken and The Later Time call for different kinds of answer, the first a length in minutes and the second a clock time in hours and minutes. Working out from the last few words of the question which of the two is wanted heads off the outcome where the arithmetic is right but only the form of the answer is wrong.
Fourth lesson, and the one that rounds the unit off. What Units (Minutes and Seconds) supplied was the sixty between minutes and seconds; the sixty used here sits between hours and minutes, and it gets called on two or three times inside a single scene.
