Division worksheets for Grade 3 (Elementary School)
What this unit covers
Sharing something into equal amounts is written as an expression, and the quotient is found by running a times table backward. The special forms come first, Dividing 0, Dividing by 1 and Dividing by the Same Number, then word problems on How Much for Each Person (Equal Sharing), How Many Groups and How Many Times as Many, before division reaches past the tables.
In the special forms the answers get swapped, with 8 ÷ 1 given as 1 and 0 ÷ 5 as 5. Setting up the dividend and the divisor the wrong way round, writing something like 3 ÷ 12, is also common. In How Many Times as Many, children build a multiplication instead, and the answer ends up larger than the original number.
