Alongside scenes of sweets being shared out equally, the word problems bring comparisons of the length of tapes and ribbons. How Much for Each Person (Equal Sharing), How Many Groups, and How Many Times as Many are three ways of reading, and all three settle into the same division expression.

The expression may be the same, but the words written with the answer change from scene to scene: how many one person receives, how many people it goes round, or how many times as large. Deciding on those words before the expression goes down cuts down on producing a bare figure that cannot be taken back to the situation.
In Basics of Division (0, 1, and Times Tables) the quotient was fixed by looking at an expression; here it comes from an expression raised out of wording. What changes is not only where the expression comes from, since How Many Groups mixes in pairs that fall outside the tables.
