What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- 2-Digit ÷ 2-Digit
The divisor becomes two digits. Stages are built from No Remainder (Column Calculation) to With a Remainder (Column Calculation), and since the dividend is two digits as well, the quotient stays a single digit. The same expressions appear in single-line working. The box in Fill in the Blank stands for the dividend or the divisor, and Word Problems (Quotient Only) and Word Problems (With a Remainder) read scenes of dividing something up.
When the box sits at the divisor on the right, children divide the dividend by the quotient shown just as it stands. In an item that leaves a remainder, that amount has to be taken off first and only then divided by the quotient. A figure obtained without removing it comes out slightly large and usually will not divide evenly, and stopping short of an even division is itself the clue.
In 3-Digit ÷ 2-Digit the dividend reaches the hundreds and items with two-digit quotients come in. This is where Division by 2-Digit Numbers begins, and the footing is the column routine gone round in Division (÷ 1-Digit Number).
