- Reading Bar Graphs
Five questions hang off a single bar graph. Reading (Multiple Questions) asks in turn for the figure of one item, the figure of the tallest bar, the gap between two bars, the gap between the tallest and the shortest, and the total of them all. Every answer is a figure taken by eye.

One division stands for five, and the tops of the bars come to rest between the lines. Read no further than the line and every answer turns out to be divisible by five. The last two questions use every bar, so a single misreading is carried through into both the gap and the total.
Reading Tables puts rows of figures in place of the heights of bars, and the questions themselves do not change. A way of going back to the same set of data again and again is what this lesson builds.
