Enlargement and Reduction

Calculation

What this worksheet covers

Grade 6 (Elementary School) / Enlargement and Reduction / Enlargement and Reduction

Two figures identical in shape and differing only in size stand together, and four questions are answered. How many times the enlargement is comes first, then a side whose length is written on only one of them is found for the larger figure and for the smaller, and finally the perimeter of the larger is worked out, as Calculation.

Finding a side whose length is not written, the larger and the smaller both get multiplied in the same way. Whether the length found is twice the corresponding side for a side of the larger figure, and half of it for a side of the smaller, shows the slip of direction.

What is handled here is the relation between two figures and nothing else. In Scale that relation moves to a place between two lengths of widely separated size, a map and a piece of actual ground.
