- What Time Is It? (Hours and Minutes)
Clocks whose long hand has traveled are read for the hour and the minutes together. 5-Minute Intervals settles the habit of reading the numeral 1 as five minutes and 2 as ten, while 1-Minute Intervals follows the small marks one at a time and takes the minute straight off the tip of the hand.

Reading a numeral on the face as the number of minutes gives four minutes whenever the long hand rests on 4. Where the short hand lies between two numerals, the one ahead gets chosen rather than the one just passed, and the time runs a full hour forward.
Elapsed Time sets two such readings side by side and asks for the stretch between them. With these two lessons the unit gives a complete grip on reading a clock face.
