Telling Time worksheets for Grade 1 (Elementary School)
What this unit covers
Reading the hour from the short hand and the minutes from the long hand is practiced as two separate skills. What Time Is It? (O'Clock) settles times on the hour, 5-Minute Intervals moves to counting the numbers by fives, and 1-Minute Intervals follows the tick marks one by one for finer readings.
The first error is reading the long hand as 4 minutes when it points at 4, since the shift to counting by fives has not happened. When the short hand sits between 2 and 3, many children read the nearer 3 and answer three o'clock, so the time comes out an hour ahead.
