What this worksheet covers
Column division by a single digit works from the highest place downward, splitting the dividend as it goes. For 2-digit and 3-digit dividends alike, cases with and without a remainder are practiced in column and horizontal form, followed by Fill in the Blank, word problems, and deciding what to do with the remainder.

Of the steps divide, multiply, subtract and bring down, skipping the bring-down leaves the quotient one digit short. An answer as small as 26 for 618 ÷ 3 is this pattern. Not writing the 0 when one belongs in the middle of the quotient, which shifts every place after it, is also common.
Division with Remainders in grade 3 asked only whether a leftover amount should be rounded up or down inside a word problem. Numbers now grow past what any times table covers, into two and three digits, and the written procedure for column division is fixed for the first time. That procedure holds up until Division by 2-Digit Numbers, where the way a trial quotient is estimated has to be rebuilt from scratch.
