- Side Lengths and Perimeter
The formula for area is traced backwards. Finding a Side from the Area works out the height from the area written on the drawing and the width, while Perimeter works out the way round from the height and the width. Both come as calculations with a drawing and an expression box.

In Perimeter, answers appear where the writing stops once two sides have been added and the step of doubling that sum is missing. For Finding a Side from the Area, multiplying the side found by the other side on the drawing and landing back on the drawing's area shows the work is right. For the perimeter, adding the four sides one by one is worth doing again.
Lessons that deal with a single rectangle end here. From Area of Composite Figures a shape is cut into several rectangles and the formula used over and over. The footing is the single expression, height times width, memorized in Area of Rectangles and Squares.
