What this worksheet covers
- Topic
- Weight (kg, g, t)
- Worksheet
- Subtraction
The work starts from items that merely subtract one g figure from another and moves to items where the g runs short, as when 800 g comes off 1 kg 300 g. In the short shape the answer arrives in two tiers, kg and g. Alongside the bare working stand word problems where a weight is read out of a scene and subtracted.
When the g side will not do it, 1 kg is broken into 1000 g and passed across. In items of that shape the kg of the answer always comes out one below the kg being subtracted from. A kg figure left as it was means the smaller of the two g figures was taken from the larger without any break.
Until now whether to add or to subtract was settled in advance. Addition and Subtraction mixes the two, and which hand to use is decided only after the scene has been read.
