Rather than stopping where the division will not go, zeros are supplied and the work carries on. Quotient 0.○○ (Column Calculation), Quotient ○.○○, 0.○○○ (Column Calculation) and Quotient ○.○○○, ○○.○○ (Column Calculation) add rows to the layout as the shape of the quotient grows. The boxed items and word problems also add places until the division comes out.

Supply zeros to the right of the number being divided and carry on, and every expression in this lesson is bound to come out evenly. Yet answers appear where the hand stopped at the last place of that number, took the division for incomplete, and wrote a remainder. When the quotient multiplied by the divisor comes to exactly the number that was divided, the work went all the way.

Where a division stops is what changes in this lesson. Division of Decimals with Remainders stopped at a chosen place, whereas here the work runs until it comes out. An expression that refuses to come out no matter how far it runs belongs to Division with Rounded Answers.
