A decimal is turned into a fraction over ten or a hundred and then simplified, and a fraction has its numerator divided by its denominator to give a terminating decimal. The course of the rewriting is shown on one line, and only the final form goes into the answer box.

Turning a fraction into a decimal, the direction gets taken wrongly and the denominator is divided by the numerator. A fraction whose numerator is smaller than its denominator must give a decimal below 1. An answer above 1 has the division the wrong way round.
Once Fractions and Decimals are seen as two dresses of the same number, a size can be compared in either form. Calculation that begins from finding a common denominator waits in the next unit, Adding Fractions (Unlike Denominators).
