- Units (t)
The weights handled leap upward all at once. A weight of 1 t is 1000 kg, and four shapes are gone round as conversions: t→kg and kg→t, together with t, kg→kg and kg→t, kg. How the digits fall is the same as it was with kg and g in the previous lesson.
Because g was in use only a lesson ago, the leftover in a kg→t, kg answer gets written as g. Only two units appear in this lesson, t and kg. A unit in the answer that never once appears in the question means the previous lesson's way of writing has stayed behind.
All that grows is the size of the figures, and the substituting itself is that of Units (kg and g). Getting used to the new unit here keeps later comparisons of weight from causing hesitation.
