From here one weight is added to another. No Carrying (Calculation) covers items whose total does not reach 1000, and With Carrying (Calculation) those that reach it and send up to kg. The same two stages appear again as word problems with a scene to read.

Once the g side reaches 1000, one unit has to be sent up to kg. A g figure left standing at 1000 or above in the answer shows the step is missing. In items that come to exactly 1000, the g side falls to 0 and the kg rises by one.
Restating was complete by Units (t), and from this lesson weight itself is calculated. Subtraction uses that same sending in reverse, breaking a unit out of the column above.
