What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Subtraction (1 Borrow)
Word problems in which the child reads a scene and builds the equation are all that this lesson contains. A three-digit number is taken from a three-digit number, one place comes up short, and a group has to be broken off the neighbor on the left and passed across before anything can be subtracted.

The step of reducing that left-hand place by one goes missing after the break, and the answer comes out ten or a hundred too large. Adding the amount subtracted back onto the result, and seeing whether the number started from returns, is something a parent can check alongside the child.
This is the last lesson of 3-Digit Addition and Subtraction. Forms needing more than one break are left to grade three, and here a single break is laid on top of the subtraction traced in Subtraction (No Borrowing).
