What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Subtraction
One length is taken from another. The work starts at No Borrowing (Calculation), where the m side manages on its own, and moves to With Borrowing (Calculation), where 1 km is broken into 1000 m and passed across because it cannot. Word problems with a scene to read follow the bare expressions.
In a With Borrowing (Calculation) item, where 1 km has been broken down and passed to the m side, the km in the answer always comes out below the km of the length being subtracted from. Find that figure unchanged and the step of reducing it after the pass has gone missing. Whether a pass is needed varies with the scene in the word problems, so this test belongs to the bare expressions alone.
Distance and Route adds one step before an expression can be set up, reading a map. Only the direction has reversed from Addition, and the stance of bringing units into line before calculating is untouched.
