What this worksheet covers
- Worksheet
- Addition
Two shapes carry the lesson, bare expressions to work through and word problems with a scene to read. Lengths are added, and both No Carrying (Calculation), where the m side does not overflow, and With Carrying (Calculation), where it overflows and reaches 1 km, appear.
Since overflowing and non-overflowing items are mixed together, answers creep in where 1 km has been added to an item that needed no sending. Holding the km in the answer against the sum of the two km figures, and finding one extra km while the m side has not reached 1000, means too much was sent.
Fourth of six lessons, and the point where the calculating begins. The directions of restating were all in place by Units (m, mm), and adding one length to another sits on top of that footing.
