- Worksheet
- Subtraction (With Borrowing)
Every item here has a dL figure that will not go. The subtraction is attempted only after 1 L has been turned into 10 dL and passed down, a two-stage move repeated through the equations and Word Problems. Adding those 10 dL onto the dL already there, before subtracting, is where the difficulty sits.

Relaxing once the 10 dL have been passed down, children forget to take one off the L. Whether the result is one less than the difference of the two L figures settles it. Others start subtracting before the passed figure has been added on, which makes the breaking pointless.
Capacity (L, dL, mL) closes with this eighth lesson. Only one relation is at work, 1 L to 10 dL, so the breaking is no different from taking one from the tens in 2-Digit Subtraction.
