- Addition (With Carrying)
Up to now the total was simply the answer. In this lesson the dL comes to ten or more, and the overflow is gathered into 1 L and sent up to the larger unit. That sending is repeated through the bare equations and Word Problems.

Relaxing once the sending is done, children drop what stays behind on the small side and let the sent figure alone stand as the answer. The other lapse is never adding the sent 1 into the large unit, and holding the result against the original quantity shows it falls short.
From Subtraction (Same Units) onward, matching units is traced through once more in the direction of taking away. The three lessons on adding capacity are finished here, and the relations between the units stay exactly as they were.
